About BrunelBrunel University’s special approach is to combine academic rigour with the practical, entrepreneurial and imaginative approach pioneered by the University’s namesake Isambard Kingdom Brunel (Britain’s most famous engineer). Brunel became a University in the 1960’s and in 2006 Brunel celebrates 40 years as a University.

Brunel University is a prestigious, dynamic Institution that prides itself on the quality of its academic programmes and research activity. In the latest Sunday Times rankings (October 2005) was ranked in the top third and in the latest Guardian rankings was ranked 28th among British HE Institutions. The Sunday Times Good University Guide gave Brunel yet further endorsement with notable successes in many areas, including being placed in the top 15% in the UK for teaching quality and the top 10% in the UK for best graduate starting salaries. Overall Brunel was ranked in the top ten of all London Universities and the top London University for sport.

Brunel is one of the UK’s most ambitious Universities and is well into a £170 million 10 year spending programme to increase facilities on campus, including development of new teaching and accommodation buildings, additional sport and recreation facilities and the expansion and refurbishment of key areas such as the library. The University is dedicated to providing a world class education for its 13,000 students, including 2,000 international students, from over 110 different countries.
